Josefina's Rancho
- This is Josefina's bed. It is made up of soft sheep skin and a warm blanket that Josefina weaved herself. Josefina's Little doll lays nicely on her bed and adds a pretty blue color to the house.
- In this corner,Josefina keeps all her curendera supplies. Since it is winter Josefina doesn't have many herbs around for healing.
- The little sun hangs on the wall by Josefina's bed by a cheerful yellow ribbon. Josefina brought this with her all the way from Santa Fe,New Mexico. The sun reminds her of her family who are living in New Mexico.
- This is where Josefina does all her weaving, from blankets to place mats. Right now she is making a blanket for her doll.
- Josefina is reading the 'Montoya Family Cookbook'. This cook book has been passed down from generation to generation. It is over 100 years old and still makes the best Mexican food you will ever taste.
- Here is the oven where all the cooking goes on. It is also used to heat the whole house during the cold winter days and nights.
- This is Josefina's mano and metate, or grinding stones, where she grounds corn to make flour to use in her cooking.
- This is the Shepard's Bed. Josefina uses it to store things such as plates, cups, and food. In the winter,Sombrita will sometimes sleep up there. She has to be careful with what she puts up there because it gets pretty warm with the fireplace right there.
- One of the wooden poles that hold up the Shepard's Bed have a handy little hook on it. On it hangs a pinata, that Josefina only uses for special occasions, and her rebozo that she uses to wrap herself in to protect her face from the harsh winter winds. The spot is very convenient because it is right by the door where Josefina can grab it easily as she runs out the door.
